First of all, the festive season has started and so I would like to wish all our loyal and valued customers my cheerful wishes and warmest greetings for a joyous and festive holiday season.
We are always focused at addressing the needs of our customers on time - every time through our dedicated Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Quality and After-Sales-Service teams. We are committed to total customer satisfaction by identifying their specific needs, translating them into Quality products and providing services. This commitment is the corner stone of our Quality Policy which I have shared in my last message about our Quality as a center of attention.
We achieve this Quality goal through our strength - our Employees. Being a Hitachi company, our main focus has always been employee's safety. Hence we thrust a lot on usage of PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) and frequently conduct regular refresher workshops on Safety Awareness. National Safety Week is also being celebrated at Hitachi every year in the month of March through safety related in-house events to spread the awareness on safety for employees and their extended families. A key factor in our outstanding safety performance was a very high level of employee participation in audits and reporting, and a continued focus on staying safe. Zero Accident is achievable and we will remain attentive in working toward this goal.
We, at Hitachi, are committed to ensure that every team member works in safe environment and given adequate training and equipment to perform at their best. As a part of Hitachi Safety Management and to uphold the 'Safety First' principle, as a rule Hitachi senior management carry out safety patrolling at our manufacturing works to evaluate safety conditions and its management processes which includes observations of ongoing work practices & procedures at the shop floors, sitting areas & for some equipments too. It also includes the verification of the progress of safety first in each department's operations and implementation of the safety practices along with 5s in their respective departments. All action items is being tracked by our Health & Safety Committee for timely implementation.
"Reinforce positive behavior at the workplace to achieve safety goal" implores us to execute our moral & attitude towards the safety culture. Our commitment to Hitachi's "Safety First" Principle keeps guiding us daily towards cultivating this attitude !!!
Another area of significant importance is our organizational culture. I strictly believe that without a positive and sustainable culture, we will not be able to achieve our business objectives and hence embarked on a cultural change program, supported by the principles of respect, transparency, collaboration and performance. Everyone at Hitachi is responsible to adhere these. I strongly believes in core value management and setting these principles as guidelines. Core Values like customer delight, quality orientation, harmony, sincerity, pioneering spirit and growth differentiate Hitachi Hi-Rel from others.
FY 2017-18 was particularly challenging for Hitachi, our industry, and our customers. With regards to business improvement initiatives, we have introduced a new business operating model to make us more competitive and dynamic. Having individual business performance as a focal point, we are better able to respond more efficiently and effectively to our customers' needs.
With regards to our Social Innovation Business, it is all about creating new value through collaborative creation. Our customers share their problems with us and then we all work together to create a solution. The geographic advantage of our manufacturing capacity in India allows us to offer state of the art technology not just to the Indian market, but also to South-East Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Africa, etc, enabling us to indulge in value creation across different parts of the world. Hitachi is happy to be a proud contributor to this Solar movement - a step towards a healthier and happier India.
