We, Hitachi Hi-Rel Power Electronics (HHPE), support the reform measure of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate, undertaken by the government. Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability is our commitment to our stakeholders to conduct our business in an Economically, Socially and Environmentally Sustainable Manner that is transparent and ethical. It is integrated with our Core Business Strategy for addressing Social and Environmental impacts of business. It addresses the well-being of all the stakeholders.

We align our CSR activities with our Mid-term Management Plan to realize the Hitachi Group Vision, creating both Social and Economic Value. Few of our Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives are support to Akshay Patra to eradicate Hunger and Malnutrition, support to Samastha Kutch Kadva Patidar Foundation, GJ, India to construct a hostel building to promote Education and support to Yuva Unstoppable - NGO to improve primary education in municipal schools to promote Education.

HHPE strives to contribute to solve social issues through sustainable CSR initiatives. By recognizing, identifying and prioritizing social issues, HHPE aims to implement well-planned CSR initiatives through collaboration with employees, consultation and communication with various stakeholders. As per the CSR Policy, the Company may undertake CSR activities as mentioned in Schedule VII. During the year under review the Company has focused on two key areas (i) Health (ii) Education.

Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods among Youth through Skill Development

Ginou Parikshan (Technical Training)

Hitachi Hi-Rel management prioritized to develop the skills of youth population in age group of 18-45 years to promote wage employment and self-employment with the objectives to enhance the skill of existing workforce (Up skilling) who are pursuing sustainable livelihood option through provision of vocational training at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and to facilitate employment of youths post skill development training. For this CSR project, HHPE, along with Hitachi India, has on boarded Labour Net as their implementing partner. This CSR initiative is aligned to Prime Minister's Kaushal Vikas Yojna for promoting "Skill India" vision of Government.

Provided skill development training to 130 candidates through Individual Learning Solution (ILS) whereby youths undergone skill training at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Bangalore in sectors desirable by them for employment, which covered activities like enrolment and registration, counselling, training delivery-class room sessions, practical classes and On Job Training (OJT), assessment followed by certifications and placements and job linkages.

  • Project Objective:
    To provide market relevant skills to unemployed youth to achieve gainful employment.
  • Trades Chosen:
    Construction (Assistant Electrician) and Electronics (Smart Phone Repair)
  • Key Activities:
    Identified location, mobilization of candidates, conducted training of youth, pre-assessment and post-assessment, certification of trainees and placement of candidates
  • Outcome:
    130 students trained (5 batches), 80% skill transferred to trainees and more than 50% trainees have been given job placement.
  • Implementing Partner:
    LabourNet Services (India) Private Limited, a social enterprise, second largest training partner of Prime Ministers Skilling Initiative (PMKVY) and third largest partner of National Skills Development Corporation, (NSDC), with presence in 25 states of India at over 650 locations with 85 livelihood centres and more than 100 outreach centres.
  • Project Contribution:
    Hitachi Hi-Rel Power Electronics Pvt. Ltd. contributed with few other Hitachi India Group Companies, to achieve benefits of size and scale of spending and to focus the spend on CSR activities for supporting the wider regional strategic objectives of the Hitachi Group in India under common umbrella.

Refurbished the Infrastructure of Rethal Pay School, Sanand

In accordance to the blueprint of Evolution, we refurbished the infrastructure particularly Sanitation and Drinking water facilities of Rethal Pay School, Sanand as per specifications.

Composition of CSR Committee: - Not Applicable

Pursuant to Section 135 (9) the company whose CSR obligation is less than INR 5 Million can authorized Board of Directors to discharge the functions of the CSR Committee. Accordingly, the resolution was passed in the Board meeting held on 6th June, 2022 entrusting Board of Directors for discharging the role, responsibilities and functions of CSR Committee. During the year under review the Board has discharged the responsibilities of the CSR Committee.

In terms of the CSR Annual Action Plan and provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 (“Act”) and relevant rules made there under, given below is the proposed CSR activities approved by the Board of Directors of the Company to be carried out for FY 2022-23.
