Promoting Healthcare including Preventive Healthcare (EYE Camp)

HHPE strives to undertake its CSR activities for the benefit and well-being of the people residing near the factory premises, mainly in the Sanand Taluka and its nearby villages. Accordingly, we at HHPE organized an eye camp at Primary Arogya Kendra, Village Bol, Taluka Sanand, Dist. Ahmedabad, Gujarat in January 2024 as part of our CSR initiative – Promoting Healthcare including Preventive Healthcare. A well-qualified and experienced team of ophthalmologists from Darshan Eye Care, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad conducted eye check-ups for over 200 patients ranging in age from 5 to 70 years. Furthermore, surgeries for diagnosed eye ailments such as cataracts, glaucoma, retina damage, and vitrectomy were conducted and funded by the company under its CSR initiatives. Medicines, eye drops, and supplements were distributed to the needy patients. The beneficiaries of these surgeries are the local people residing in villages such as Bol, Siyawada, Charal, Jholapur, Sanand, Chekhla, Rasilpura, and others.

In addition to this, eye check-ups for the students of the primary school in Village Bol were also conducted, and spectacles, eye ointments, supplements, and eye drops were distributed to the needy free of cost.

Nearly 57 surgeries for various eye diseases such as cataracts, retina damage treatment, pterygium excision, and vitrectomy were conducted, with the entire cost for pre- and post-operation expenses funded by the company.

Treatment for Urological diseases in Collaboration with Vithaldas Tulsidas Desai Charity Trust

During the year, HHPE, under its CSR initiative - Healthcare including Preventive Healthcare, entered into a collaboration with Vithaldas Tulsidas Desai Charity Trust (VTDC Trust) for healthcare services in urological diseases. VTDC Trust owns and manages Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH), a premier institute devoted entirely to urology and nephrology. MPUH, a non-profit organization and academic medical center based in Nadiad, Gujarat, serves society by: (a) offering free treatment to patients from poor economic backgrounds, (b) conducting high-quality research across various urological and nephrological diseases, and (c) hosting the largest residency training program in urology and running postgraduate courses. The company has funded the cost of treatment for needy and deserving patients for kidney dialysis performed at Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital. The company has also sponsored funds for the procurement of vital medical equipment, including a dialysis machine. The dialysis machine helps in conducting around 25,000 dialysis sessions annually, with 2 to 3 patients benefiting from this essential treatment each day. The expected lifespan of the dialysis machine is 5 to 6 years. Our CSR initiative has not only addressed the immediate needs of the patients but also laid a strong foundation for sustainable healthcare services.

Promoting Education through upgrading Educational Facilities in collaboration with Thakkar Bapa Sarvajanik Trust

HHPE has contributed to Shri Thakkar Bapa Sarvajanik Hostel Trust (Trust), which has been operational in the city of Sanand since 1955, providing free and quality education to the children of marginalized poor families. The Trust operates a school from Junior KG to Standard 12 and a hostel, serving around 550 students in the school and 180 students in the hostel. It caters to the needs of providing quality education, residential facilities, a safe environment, hygienic food, and other necessities for students from marginalized families in the villages near Sanand. Under its CSR initiative – Promoting Education through Upgrading Educational Facilities, HHPE has procured and installed two solar rooftops with a capacity of 10 MW each for the Sharda Mandir Vidhyavihar School and the hostel building, respectively. The installation of the solar rooftops has helped the institute in energy saving, resulting in cost savings in overall electricity expenditure. This has allowed the management to spend more on the diet and nutrition of the students.

HHPE has procured and supplied three 75-inch Smart TV Boards for upgrading educational infrastructure and providing opportunities for smart learning through interactive online educational videos and experiments.

HHPE has also donated around 132 books to the library maintained by the Trust on the campus of the educational institute. The books cover various subjects such as English literature, Gujarati literature, science, astronomy, philosophy, society, encyclopedias, children’s learning books, and competitive exam preparation reference books. These books are available in various languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, and English.

Furthermore, HHPE has also donated sports kits to encourage physical education among children. The efforts of HHPE have helped in the holistic development of the students.
